The 19th November marks International Men’s Day and this year the theme is ‘Making a Difference for Men and Boys.’ The 2019 theme address particular issues that affect men and boys, which includes, mental health issues in males, high male suicide rates, challenges faced by boys and men at all stages of education and shorter life expectancies.
In light of these issues Rooff have taken the first steps on developing a Mental Health Awareness Programme and have recently signed the Building Mental Health Charter. The aim of this is to raise awareness of mental health issues across all employees. We want to encourage and educate all our employees to recognise the signs of people suffering and to support each other but to also speak out about their feelings and reduce the stigma surrounding mental health.
As part of this longer term objective we have trained our first Mental Health First Aiders.
