Rooff are thrilled to have completed the new build of Christ Church Newham along the Barking Road.
The former Plaistow Christian Church URC church recently merged with Brickfields URC Church in Stratford to form Christ Church Newham. This merger resulted in the need for a bigger worship space for the congregation.
The existing buildings on the site were of poor quality and didn’t provide enough space for the congregation. We demolished the existing buildings and in its place constructed a building designed by Mathews Serjeant Architects, creating a large space for worship as well as providing meeting rooms that can be used by the community. The building is finished to a high quality and includes a bespoke light above the baptismal font which is formed of three circles and symbolises the Holy Trinity.
Rooff started the project in 2020 and despite being affected by the COVID 19 pandemic, adapted and progressed with the scheme. We worked collaboratively with the client, design team and our subcontractors to ensure there was minimal disruption.
