Mayor of Newham Visits Completed Lucel Tate House

In preparation for handover to the London Borough of Newham, the Mayor of Newham Rokhsana Fiaz OBE, Councillor Shaban Mohammed and Councillor Sabia Kamali, attended site to visit the completed building. The flats have been built on an infill plot and provide eight new affordable homes for Newham residents.

The new building on Idmiston Road has been named Lucel Tate House after Lucel Tate, who influenced the shift in public policy in social care and housing, away from the one size fits all to diversity, in the provision of these services. She was the first chair of the Hibiscus Caribbean Elderly Association and founder of the Hibiscus Community Centre, opened in 1994, located on the corner of Idmiston Road.
