Latymer Upper School

London, W6

DESCRIPTION

This project launched Rooff`s recent track record in to performing arts buildings and has established our name within the theatre design world as a tried and tested contractor.

The scheme also introduced Rooff to architect`s van Heynigen and Haward who we have since gone on to work with on other projects including the Alleyn`s School Performing Arts Centre in Dulwich.

The Latymer Upper School performing arts centre was of extremely high design quality designed individual-ly for this prestigious school in West London. The building was constructed using a steel frame for the thea-tre and reinforced concrete frame for the remainder, the two halves being isolated to minimise sound transmission.

The works were carried out on an extremely restricted site not much larger than the footprint of the build-ing. Maintaining close liaison with the school throughout the project helped minimise disruption and en-sured the health and safety of staff and pupils were not compromised.

The scheme was won through competitive tender and was executed using a traditional form of contract. Success was achieved through an excellent working relationship amongst the entire team, and the project was completed on time and on budget.
