We are delighted to congratulate The Skinners’ Company, 6a architects and the wider project team on the success of Skinners’ Hall at the 2026 Architects’ Journal Retrofit & Reuse Awards, where the project was awarded Winner of the Conservation and Historic Category (£20m and over).
Rooff is proud to have played a key role in the transformation of this exceptional Grade I Listed building and Scheduled Ancient Monument. The AJ Retrofit & Reuse Awards celebrate excellence in the adaptation, renewal and reuse of existing buildings, recognising projects that demonstrate how historic buildings can be sensitively preserved while meeting modern standards of performance and sustainability.
The refurbishment combined the careful restoration of important historic fabric with a range of sustainability improvements, including enhanced insulation, improved thermal performance and the installation of low-carbon building services. Together, these measures have helped secure the long-term future of the building while respecting its rich architectural and historic significance.
The award is a testament to the collaborative efforts of the client, design team, specialist supply chain and project stakeholders, whose collective expertise enabled the successful delivery of a complex heritage restoration and retrofit project.
We are proud to have contributed to the preservation and enhancement of one of London’s most significant historic buildings and are delighted to see the project recognised on a national stage.
Congratulations once again to The Skinners’ Company, 6a architects and everyone involved in this outstanding achievement.
