In collaboration with the Construction Youth Trust (CYT), our Property Development Assistant, Danny Watson, visited Year 10 students at All Saints Catholic School in Dagenham to teach them about the development business. The students learnt about the early stages of development viability, the planning process, stakeholders and performed a development appraisal of a recent Rooff scheme. The students used their maths skills to produce a Residual Land Value.
The students were fantastic, engaged throughout and thoroughly enjoyed the practical aspects of the lesson, especially working in competition against each other as to who produced the best scheme!
This was the early stage as part of a larger scheme by the Construction Youth Trust to bring greater awareness of careers in the built environment into the classroom. Hopefully, Rooff and CYT will continue this partnership and take other disciplines from construction into the classrooms.
