Citizens House Official Opening

We’re pleased to share the completion of the Citizens House project in Lewisham. The site was a previously unused garage site, where we constructed the new affordable homes for London CLT. London CLT was the first community land trust in London to be created by the community; a partnership of Lewisham Citizens, Lewisham Council and the GLA.

The project consists of 11 new apartments made up of 1 and 2 bedroom homes, plus hard and soft landscaping to the communal and private gardens. Now completed, the new homes provide genuine permanently affordable homes for local people.

Steve accepted a brick from the old garages, on behalf of Rooff, at a wonderful celebration at Citizens House on Sunday 2nd April at the official opening with the residents and all the CLT team, GLA and supporting community. Speaking to one of the residents – Jordan, he said he was amazed at the levels of environmental comfort and insulation, compared to all the previous housing he has lived in. He has hardly had to use his boiler since moving in during January.
