The opening ceremony of Walthamstow Wetlands took place on Thursday 12th October with the official opening on Friday 20th October. The project included a complete refurbishment of the Marine Engine Pump House, and conservation work to the Copper Mill Tower as well as extensive external works. The extensive refurbishment work on this locally listed Victorian Building started earlier this year, which converted the Marine Engine Pump House into a new Visitor’s Centre for the reservoirs.
The completed building consists of a new mezzanine floor, external spiral staircase and a new kitchen extension and a fantastic new viewing platform. Alterations to the existing building include new openings at the base of the tower which opens up this magnificent building.
